Position Summary:
This position performs major and technically diagnostics, repairs and overhauls/rebuilds in a timely manner; ensuring quality, time standards, customer expectations, cost guidelines and reliability goals are met. The T2 or B Level Technician works on assignments requiring considerable judgement and mentors other Martino Tire Technicians on a regular basis.
Major Responsibilities:
- Repair, overhauls, and maintenance work on medium and heavy trucks
- Diagnose complex mechanical & electrical problems and determine needed repairs
- Diagnostic scan tool software and computer skills
- Perform vehicle and truck standard and preventative maintenance with minimal support
- Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Performs remote triage to Martino Tire customers to determine best solution to assist roadside breakdowns
- Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Interacts with customers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Coaches and mentors other level technicians
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Advise management and other technicians on shop repairs or deficiencies
- Works in accordance with Federal/Provincial and Corporate compliance guidelines (DOT, safety, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned by management as requested
Qualifications:
- Diagnose and repair vehicle, medium and heavy duty trucks and automotive systems including:
- Engine
- Transmission
- Electrical
- Steering
- Suspension
- Alignment
- Braking
- Air conditioning
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, occasionally stand, walk, sit, climb, reach or balance
- Must be able to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled conditions (sun, rain, cold)
- Must be able work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Must be customer focused and maintain a clean appearance
- A strong knowledge of the geographical area is also considered a plus
- Must be a self-starter and willing to take the initiative; ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to attend appropriate training sessions and to obtain any recommended certifications as directed by management
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Must have your own tools and tool box
- ASE Certification
- Pass a regulatory agency (DOT) specific physical examination
- Valid Class E Drivers’ License
- Negative drug test
- Criminal background
- Ability to work 1st shift, as well as nights and weekends as required
- Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service
- Excellence safety and attendance performance is expected
