We are currently building a pipeline of Supervisory candidates for future openings.
Position Summary:
This individual will supervise, facilitate, and motivate employees to safely and efficiently execute and complete their work assignments based on the daily mine plan. The Mine Operations Supervisor will coordinate and communicate with operations, maintenance, and scheduling personnel to ensure safe and efficient execution of daily work assignments.
Key Accountabilities:
- Monitor and communicate compliance to the mine plan and product quality specifications.
- Spend time in the field on a regular basis to maintain familiarity and knowledge of pit operations.
- Promote and encourage the achievement of the high performance standards established for the employees, provide feedback to employees on their progress, and implement disciplinary measures if necessary.
- Update the oncoming Dispatchers/Supervisor(s) on the current activities and/or projects in the mining area.
- Ensure employee compliance to corporate, property and departmental policies and standard work procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement.
- Coordinate and facilitate departmental training needs, and encourage and assist in employee development.
- Coordinate and participate in safety and loss control programs, and promote safety to employees on an ongoing basis.
- Generate required reports associated with the dispatch system.
- Use radio and telephone communication system for general operation.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following education, work experience, and abilities:
- Education: College degree preferred; equivalent experience accepted
- Experience: Minimum two years of recent Mine Operations/Maintenance experience is preferred. Previous successful leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of mine equipment operations required.
- Schedule: Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and help ensure 24-hour coverage 7 days per week.
- Technology Skills: Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Products; ability to learn new software and databases
- Communication Skills - - Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Work Ethic - - has a self-starting nature and conscientious and diligent work ethic, a demonstrated flexibility and integrity, and a collaborative style with the objective of building strong relationships across departments.
