Douglas Press, Inc., a top quality manufacturer in the charitable gaming industry is seeking a qualified individual to supervise and inspire its employees to meet the company’s manufacturing and production schedules through effective leadership and business acumen. The Production Supervisor will need to motivate employees to meet productivity, safety and quality goals, to continually improve performance and to embrace changes that will help the company meet its production goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervise production operations in accordance with Company policies and procedures, meeting schedule demands and machine performance metrics.
- Provide a safe working environment for all employees, including ensuring a clean and safe work area.
- Audit equipment and production floor for safety, quality and productivity concerns, and correct as needed.
- Train, coach, engage production employees.
- Provide employees with clear expectations and feedback.
- Hold employees responsible and accountable for their performance.
- Be responsible for shift schedule to include: work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, overtime assignments and back-up for absent employees.
- Conduct employee performance reviews.
- Schedule and conduct meetings, as needed.
- Be responsible for meeting production goals.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and Quality Standards.
- Communicate with other Supervisors, Department Managers and lead people in other departments.
- Complete paper work as required.
- Assist in production as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Scope
The purpose of this position is to direct a staff of machine operators and general laborers and manage the production floor to meet the Company’s objectives and goals in the most efficient and productive way possible. The position will require some knowledge of printing and bindery equipment operations.
Job Requirements
- Great communication skills, personable.
- General knowledge of computers including Microsoft Office programs.
- Reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
- Ability to learn and comprehend computer programs associated with the running of the production floor.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 5 years of manufacturing experience with team leadership roles and responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Print and Bindery manufacturing processes.
- Willingness to take ownership of results and outcomes.
- Desire to develop a team of employees.
- Ability to resolve conflicts constructively.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Ability to speak comfortably in front of groups while presenting data and influencing behaviors.
