Job Title: Safety Technician/ Safety Foreman
Department: Jobsite, Safety Department
Reports To: Safety Manager, dotted line to Jobsite Superintendent
Hours: Full-time, may require overtime. Generally M-F Days, but may vary
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
This job description covers the position of safety technician. It provides a general description of the types of elements required on the job but not all the possible physical demands. It does not cover all the objects to be handled or the activities that may be on the job.
70 % of time daily is spent in the field with an exception for document control days. Inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures, and maintaining safety equipment supply and availability. Work is managed by the superintendent, or safety manager or director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A Safety Technician falls into the light to medium physical demand category and reports to the Safety Manager or Director, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the site superintendent..
- Participates in site audits and works with plant personnel to help address any deficiencies
- Facilitates the coordination and delivery of safety meetings, safety tours and safety training
- Assists with the implementation of new safety related programs
- Monitors daily job site activities to assist with questions or concerns
- Trains others on procedures and periodically audits for compliance
- Fosters discussion and feedback from site operational teams on possible new safety programs or initiatives
- Works in conjunction with the Emergency Response Team or other client safety teams
- Documents and may lead morning safety meetings with field craft employees on topics provided; may recommend topics
- Assists in daily Job Safety Analysis of high-risk activities to help ensure safety issues are addressed
- Works with site leadership in the development of effective Safety Training Programs
- Participates in incident investigations to identify root causes and assist with resolving action items
- Maintains the site SDS manual
- Perform team member recognitions and positive reinforcement
- Identification and remediation of jobsite hazards
- Oversee safety needs for hardening/ bulletproofing work.
- Complete other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

- Equipment Inspections
- Crew tool belt
- Assured grounding
- Ladder inspections
- SRL
- Electrical equipment
KNOWLKEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or GED
Must have OSHA 30 certification to be considered; other certifications helpful.
Possess a working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart L
Possess a working knowledge of worksite permit requirements (Hot Work, Confined Space, Barricades)
Driver requirements in accordance with Liberty Industrial Group’s vehicle policy, if required
Must pass Liberty Industrial Group’s skill assessment
Must be able to pass a background check (an extensive background check may be required by some customers)
EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB
- PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, safety boots, respiratory protection, fall protection harness, hearing protection, etc.) as required.
- Hand tools: Torpedo level, 25-foot tape measure

OTHER ASPECTS AND DEMANDS OF THE JOB NOT LISTED
The Safety Technician must be able to work in and around areas such as: air ducts, hot or cold pipes, storage tanks, boilers, elevator shafts, and buildings.
- Working in extreme environments of hot or cold.
- Knowledge of quality control checks and inspections.
- Knowledge of material handling techniques.
- Understand training and certification as it applies to the use of applicable equipment to the trade to include forklifts, aerial lifts, and power tools/ equipment.
COMPENSATION
- Hourly, non-exempt
- Rate based on project size, complexity, and candidate qualifications may be adjusted based upon performance
- Additional compensation (per diem, safety incentives, etc.) available as per project contract
- No rate, level of job assignment, or duration of job is guaranteed
