Reporting to one of two Area Directors, the Resident Director (RD) is responsible for the comprehensive management of 1-2 residence halls, housing approximately 230-350 residents and supervises 6-8 Resident Assistants.  The RD serves as an active and visible residential life staff member that is responsible for developing an atmosphere that promotes academic achievement, inclusiveness, personal development, a strong sense of community, and, retention to Radford University.

Primary duties and responsibilities include: develop a comprehensive community learning plan that addresses the HRL learning outcomes, administration and supervision, support for student development, intentional retention related initiatives, crisis management, student conduct administration, community development, collaboration with physical facility management, university and departmental committee assignments and a summer collateral assignment.

Required Qualifications: An advanced degree or equivalent education, training and experience.  Experience in Residence Life or University setting.  Demonstrated planning, administrative, organizational and supervisory skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities.  Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external constituencies.  Demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and success in creating inclusive communities.

Preferred Qualifications:  Previous residence life experience in a leadership role.  Proven ability to address the needs of student groups and staff. Previous experience with learning communities, collaboration with faculty and other campus constituents.  Ability to promote a positive residential culture and community.  Experience with student conduct, group advising, crisis response, behavior interventions, program coordination, and recruitment and training for student groups.

The RD position is a full-time, twelve-month live-in position that includes a furnished on-campus apartment including utilities and partial meal plan.  Anticipated start date is July 2018.
