The Assistant Coach for the Women’s Track/XC program will serve the program in reporting to the Head Women’s Track/XC Coach and will assist in all aspects of the sport program and is responsible for assisting in the coaching of the middle distance, long distance, and cross country program. In addition to coaching, the Assistant Coach will assist in recruiting, competition scheduling, budget management, fundraising, managing distribution of athletic scholarships, student-athlete mentoring, monitoring academic progress, and ensuring the program is compliant with the NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. The Assistant Coach will also assist in promoting the team, as well as the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and participate in community outreach.

Leadership and Management: 

  • Instruct student-athletes in the sport, which includes skill instruction, motivation and conduct session practices.
  • Provides effective feedback to student-athletes during competition.
  • Anticipates needs of program, works with support staff and members of Omaha Athletics to ensure execution of responsibilities.
  • Assist with the development and supervision of the student-athletes in the Track/XC program.
  • Assist in the planning of the in-season practices, including team and individual workouts.
  • Assist in the planning and coordinating of out-of-season practices, including individual skill instruction and team workouts, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I level.
  • Assist in monitoring the academics of each of the Track/XC athletes.
    · Supervise and manage recruiting efforts, including off campus contact and on campus visits, and maintain NCAA Compliance within recruiting guidelines.
  • Oversee practice plans and give feedback to ensure effective training and development.
  • Assist with the planning and implementing of travel and competition.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent track & field experience
