Allied Universal® is hiring Peace Officers. Peace Officers will conduct foot and/or vehicle patrol (interior and/or exterior). Additional duties include control access and egress; monitor CCTV and alarm systems; compose reports; deter criminal activity and misconduct

Special Patrolmen are appointed in connection with special duties of employment, and such designation confers limited Peace Officer powers upon the employee pursuant to New York State Criminal Procedure Law § 2.10(27). The exercise of these powers is limited to the employee's geographical area of employment and only while such employee is actually on duty

Pay Rate - $28-$30 / hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently
  • Under supervision, the Special Officer will provide physical security, safety and maintenance of order in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Screens employees and visitors
  • Operates and monitors security equipment; reports equipment needing maintenance or repair
  • Patrols designated areas of assigned locations to maintain order, preserve the peace and safeguard life and property against fire, vandalism and theft.
  • Issuing of summonses.
  • Controlling crowds and maintaining order in governmental or public buildings.
  • Only when directed; arrests and issues summons to law violators on premises
  • Transports/escorts and/or arranges transport of persons in custody to police precinct and has arrest recorded on Police Blotter.
  • Prepares and transmits all appropriate documentation relating to arrest.
  • Testifies in court and other tribunals.

QUALIFICATIONS (MUST HAVE):

  • Possess a current NYC Special Patrolman License under Chapter 13: Special Patrolmen - Peace Officer Certificate
  • Candidates should exhibit a strong interest in criminal law and public service
  • A high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization; and Individuals serving in this title are designated as Peace Officers by the New York State Criminal Procedure Law
  • All candidates must be qualified to serve as Peace Officers
  • Must satisfy the training requirements established by the State of New York for Peace Officers and obtain certification
  • Once obtained, this certification must be maintained for the duration of employment
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Abilities to resolve conflicts and multitask
  • Ability to attend, complete and maintain State and agency training requirements
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization; and
  • Individuals serving in this title are designated as Peace Officers by the New York City Criminal Procedure Law
  • All candidates must be qualified to serve as Peace Officers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Service in Military Occupational Specialty related to law enforcement, security (such as Military Police, Elite Military Forces, combat arms) or any support role in a Combat Zone
  • Graduate of a Certified Public Safety Academy (military or civilian) or verified work experience in the law enforcement, adult corrections, or firefighter field
  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice related studies
  • A minimum of 8 or more years of service in any military branch
  • Associate’s degree (or 60 credits) or higher in law enforcement or criminal justice with current or prior active military service
