Description
Alabama Public Television (APT) is looking for a dedicated full-time Producer. Based in Montgomery, this position will work with a team to manage the day-to-day production of our weekly and daily programs, including "Capitol Journal" and "Spotlight in Education". This position will play a pivotal role in shaping the content of our programs, ensuring a seamless and engaging presentation of topical issues. The ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling and thrive in a fast-paced environment, bringing creativity and enthusiasm to each project.
Responsibilities will include determining the show's content and flow, working collaboratively with our team to generate, write, and edit stories, and executing public affairs content strategies centered around the Alabama Legislature and state government. Beyond the broadcast, you will also be responsible for creating compelling content for our website and social media channels, utilizing upcoming show content and videos to enhance our online presence.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- One year of experience producing television news programs
NOTE: Experience above the minimum may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year of experience is equivalent to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of college coursework
Preferred Requirements:
- Solid news judgment
- Experience with newsroom computer systems to manage editorial content and production workflows for news programs
- Skilled in collaborating on content development, writing scripts, managing assignments, and publishing stories across multiple platforms, including television, web, and mobile
- Compelling and accurate writer
- Proficient with non-linear editing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Detail-oriented
- Flexibility and on-the-spot problem solving abilities
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Time management skills/ability to multitask
Salary Range: $39,312.00 - $65,726.40.
