Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess therapeutic needs, develop, update, review treatment plans, and provide treatment.
  • Provide mental health counseling for individuals, couples, and groups to students, assessment and community referrals for the emotional, psychological, and situational issues that impact academic success.
  • Provide crisis counseling and crisis support on campus as necessary.
  • Provide individual short-term psychological counseling to students presenting a multitude of therapeutic issues within the appropriate scope of practice.
  • Work with the UD Case Manager, Dean of Students, Care Team, Behavioral Intervention team, and other departments as necessary to triage students for the appropriate level of care, including crisis intervention, suicide risk, individual counseling, referral for community resources, and psychological evaluation based on sound clinical judgment, or into encouraging environmental community supports.
  • Maintain confidential clinical notes, forms, and paperwork for a caseload of students receiving mental health services.
  • Collaborate with the UDCC Treatment Team to provide quality care for all students.
  • Collaborate with UDCC Training Program for Graduate Students seeking clinical hours by allowing interns to observe sessions, provide feedback and support.
  • Consult with faculty and staff regarding student's developmental, psychological, and emotional concerns.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters of Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family, or related field of study from a regionally accredited program.
  • Active LPC, LPC-Associate, LCSW, LMFT, LMFT-Associate, or similar license in good standing.
  • Proven experience rendering psychotherapy services.
  • Ability to create and implement appropriate and functional treatment plans.
  • Ability to maintain a professional anthropology consistent with the environment and maintaining all professional responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of counseling resources and best practices.
  • Knowledge of holistic approach to helping students determine an appropriate career path.
  • Knowledge of human relations and problem-solving methods.
  • Knowledge of the human condition, with ailments related to those listed within the DSM-5-TR disorders.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures for assessment and treatment of mental illness.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, ethical standards, and college code of conduct, or ability to learn such factors quickly.
  • Ability to apply professional and ethical principles, practices, and sound decisions.
  • Ability to build positive collegial relationships.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to create presentations.
  • Ability to utilize the web-based notes/scheduling platform called SimplePractice.
  • Ability to establish rapport, trust, and a non-judgmental theoretical approach to counseling individuals.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of local service agencies and referral/resource information.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Must maintain the State of Texas license status.
