The Small Café team is looking for a line cook/chef de partie to support our Chef. We are looking for someone who supports our mission of Quality First, No Exception . We prefer to have a working interview so be prepared for a hands-on 1 hour interview.

Our Café has a family-like, quirky, atmosphere with a loyal customer base. Our hard-working team's goal is to create quality food with love.

We serve the best brunch in America according to some customer reviews; we are aware that we can only be the best if we have a team that believes in our mission. We are looking for that special person; if you think you are a believer and a team player we would love to talk to you!

Café hours are 7:30-2:00pm Wednesday- Friday 8am-2pm Saturday & Sunday, so no late nights, but there are early mornings. Being on time every day is very important to everyone on the team.

Pay is a range because base pay is $12 -$18 because all tips are split between front of house and kitchen. Typical pay is around $18 per hour after tips sometimes even more.

Line Cook duties and responsibilities

  • Memorizing recipes, policies, procedures, and standard portion sizes
  • Preparing ingredients and components of each recipe on the restaurant’s menu
  • Following the recipes exactly as written every time
  • Maintaining freshness of product and rotating old product out
  • Working with a team to handle varying levels of activity
  • Maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe workspace at all times to avoid contamination
  • Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines

Line Cook skills and qualifications

  • Professional and responsible conduct
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
  • Teamwork skills and supporting the Chef
  • Good verbal communication skills is very important to making service run smoothly
  • Calling tickets and constantly communicating with Chef to ensure each ticket is executed without mistakes
  • Organizational skills
  • Having a creative spirit

Line Cook education and training requirements

Formal education is not a requirement, but knowing the basics of cooking in a restaurant is required.
