Description
Purpose:
We are looking for a Contracts Specialist with some experience in federal government contracting and project management analysis. This role is essential for managing federal contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and utilizing project control methodologies to enhance contract performance. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent analytical skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. A basic understanding of contract management is needed for this position. Preferred candidate will have worked, or works, in a small business federal government contracting company.
Responsibilities:
- With guidance, manage federal contracts, ensuring compliance with federal acquisition regulations (FAR) and other applicable laws. Candidate will work with experienced staff in this area for mentorship.
- With guidance, project management to monitor contract performance and profitability
- With guidance, collaborate with project teams to define project baselines, performance metrics, and reporting requirements.
- Serve as a contact for federal contracting inquiries, addressing issues related to contract execution and compliance.
- Prepare and maintain accurate contract documentation.
- Analyze cost proposals and performance data to ensure that contracts are financially sound and that project goals are met.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and project management, to facilitate effective contract administration and oversight.
- Stay informed about changes in federal contracting regulations and best practices, providing training and support to internal teams as necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of contracting policies and procedures that align with project control methodologies.
- 3 years experience in federal government contracts administration.
Minimum Education and Certifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
Technical Skills Required:
- MS Word, Excel, and related office software products.
Computer Skills:
- Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Word and Excel
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Must be a US Citizen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience with FAA government contracting a plus but not required.
- Experience in types of contracts (T&M, CPAF, CPIF, CPFF, FFP) and cost/price analysis preferred but not necessary. For those contract types for which the candidate is not familiar, guidance will be provided.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Willing to learn about SCA, DBA, FAR/DFAR requirements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, hear and use a computer/keyboard/mouse for several hours on a daily basis.
- May require occasional light lifting of up to 10 pounds.
