SALARY: $42,464 - $74,313
The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Reidsville Construction team.
In this role, you will:

- Perform inspections on roadway and structure construction, erosion control, and traffic control devices on contract construction projects to ensure compliance with contract plans, specifications, and standard drawings.
- Verify contractors' work is in accordance with plans, specifications, standard drawings, and special details.
- Maintain daily diaries, pay record books, and other project documentation in accordance with NCDOT practices, policies, and construction manual.
- Maintain required NCDOT certifications for asphalt roadway paving, concrete testing, density testing, aggregate and borrow pit sampling, and other certifications.
- Serve as a Project Inspector.
- Perform advanced technical and entry-level engineering and administrative duties.
- Assist our Division during emergencies and bad weather.
- Apply an extremely wide range of decision-making and use of good engineering and construction judgment
- Supervise and provide work direction to others.
What You Bring

- Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
- Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Advanced technical work experience supporting engineers in functional areas, such as highway construction, construction inspection, engineering coordination, and construction traffic control.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Education and Experience

- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
- 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
