Job Description:

The Library and Resource Sharing Specialist is directly accountable to the Director, Learning Resources and Library Services for the below listed duties and responsibilities.

  • Responsible for all resource sharing activities including lending, borrowing, and document delivery of interlibrary loan requests.
  • Utilizes OCLC and UBorrow library management systems to process interlibrary loan requests.
  • Manages Intra-campus mail and prepares material for mailing.
  • Maintains and places orders for all library operating supplies keeping adequate supplies on hand.
  • Uses college and library financial systems to verify and reconcile vendor information, invoicing, and order information.
  • Prepares requisitions for materials, equipment, and supplies using Banner and Integrated Library System (ILS).
  • Purchases print and digital books approved by collection development librarian.
  • Coordinates the processing of books and digital resources and maintains records of selections and purchases.
  • Performs copy cataloging of print and digital monographic and serial items, including editing and entering original cataloging.
  • Maintains the database of bibliographic records for all materials when they are added, deselected, or changed.
  • Discards books that have been removed from collection.
  • Repairs books as needed.
  • Prepares materials for shelving and circulating.
  • Maintains log of records destruction methods and pays invoices as required.
  • Processes gifts and donations received by the library.
  • Assists with stacks maintenance including upkeep of periodicals, moving to stacks, or discarding when necessary.
  • Relabel books as needed.
  • Adds reference materials to circulating collection and shelves in proper location.
  • Produces lost item, overdue, and shelf list reports.
  • Contacts patrons and borrowing libraries to reclaim lost and overdue materials.
  • Staffs circulation desk as scheduled.
  • Assists other library staff with tasks as needed.
  • Completes the College's required risk management tool annual mandatory compliance training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree and at least one (1) year of office experience required.
  • Knowledge of filing and record keeping required.
  • Ability to perform very detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
  • Ability to work as a team member and show a capacity for professional growth and development.
  • Ability to deal with the general public, students, faculty and staff positively and effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in a college library environment preferred.
  • Cataloging and resource sharing experience preferred.
