AppDev Manager Position Overview

Are you an experienced IT professional with a passion for leadership, process improvement, and project management? OOD is looking for a Manager in IT to lead our application development and database administration efforts. In this position you'll oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of our IT solutions. You will be responsible for managing a team that supports database performance, application development, and system security. This role will have a direct impact on ensuring our business systems operate reliably and efficiently.

Most positions offer the flexibility of a hybrid schedule that combines working from home with regular in-office and/ or community presence. In-person work requirements may change for training, meetings, and other operational needs. Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

AppDev Manager Duties

• Lead application development and database administration initiatives
• Oversee high-availability solutions for tools like business intelligence and user interfaces
• Advise leadership on current and future technologies
• Ensure performance, capacity, and security of IT systems
• Manage database performance metrics, monitor system health, and resolve issues quickly
• Promote adherence to methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, and DevOps
• Maintain standards for database management, security, backup, and disaster recovery
• Stay current with industry advancements, including AI and other cutting-edge technologies
• Work closely with senior leadership and external partners to align IT strategies with business goals

A Successful AppDev Manager Has

• Knowledge of IT management, government structure, and business operations
• Experience with project management, electronic data processing, and IT security
• Skilled in using tools like Microsoft Office and general office equipment
• Ability to reason through complex problems, perform statistical analysis, and develop detailed reports
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with teams and customers
