We are hiring Lifeguard/Swim Instructors at the Rogue Credit Union Community Complex (Rogue X)! 
We’re looking for skilled swimmers who can confidently pass a swim assessment and thrive in a fast-paced aquatic environment. The aquatic center at Rogue X includes:

  • An indoor recreation pool
  • A 13-lane competition pool
  • Water slides
  • A lazy river
  • Indoor water play features with beach entry
  • Outdoor splash pad

Available Schedule: 

  • Rogue X is open 7-days a week, 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM.
  • Schedule will vary based on need and availability; however, this position will primarily be between the hours of 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM and weekends.

   Compensation & Information on Benefits:

Is the hourly $$ competitive?
Yes! 

  • $17.52 non-certified
  • $18.02 certified or previously certified

What is needed to get started?

  • You need to be 15 years or older at time of hire.
  • Graduation from High School or have GED equivalent; or are currently enrolled in High School or equivalent and on track for graduation.
  • Be able to swim 150 yards non-stop showing breath control.
  • **This process includes a swim assessment involving treading water, diving, and swimming laps**
  • Be comfortable working in a humid and loud environment.
  • Love working with and around children and able to work as part of a team.

Do I need to be certified before applying?

No!

  • We will certify you once you are hired!

Is the work schedule flexible?

Yes! 

  • This is a part-time year-round position where you can be scheduled up to 25 hours a week.
  • Rogue X is open 6:00 AM - 9:00 PM, at various times with multiple programs running throughout the day.
  • Schedules may vary in order to provide services for swim lessons, open swim, aquatic rentals and special events.

Do part-time jobs include benefits?
Yes!

  • Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS) retirement contributions paid by employer for part-time, year-round positions.
  • Paid sick leave - one (1) hour accrued for every 30 hours worked.
  • Access to the City's fully equipped fitness center 24/7

   Examples of Job Duties:

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Conducts swim lesson classes for various ages and skill levels.
  • Evaluates swim participants at the end of each season.
  • Lifeguards during open swims, lap swims, aquatic rentals, and special events.
  • Enforces safety regulations in a professional, friendly manner.
  • Follows emergency action plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Provides emergency care/treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Performs hourly pool water chemical tests.
  • Assists patrons with putting on life jackets.
  • Attends and participates in all staff trainings and meetings.
  • Assists in the clean-up of the entire pool facility and locker rooms
  • Cautions and educates swimmers against dangerous situations.
  • Is proficient with the emergency procedures and department policies at the aquatic center.
  • Relates to the public in a positive manner.
  • Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.
