The Challenge
We are hiring an entry-level Engineering Technician to join our Forsyth County Roadside Environmental team.
In this role, you will:

- Ensure mowing, litter removal, and vegetation management contracts are correctly prepared and administered.
- Provide technical guidance to our Roadside Environmental Unit crews to ensure successful delivery of the work plans
- Provide prompt responses to maintenance needs.
- Serve as a contract administrator for mowing, litter removal, and fully-operated rental contracts.
- Perform office work using Microsoft Office.
- Make sure contractor’s invoices are correct, contracts are kept up to date, and any other duties.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle with a Class A CDL with Tanker (N) endorsement.
What You Bring
-
- Familiarization with reading plans, contract specifications, applicable standards, and performing inspections.
- Landscape/gardening experience in areas such as mowing, guardrail trimming, tree removal, and plant bed maintenance.
- Experience interacting with contractors and public.
- Experience reading highway/landscape construction plans.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
- Great ability to work in a team environment.
- Agility to work, climb, bend, walk, and operate equipment on uneven surfaces and slopes.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tanker (N) endorsement. (Don't have it? Still apply! You can get it through our on the job training program within 360 days of hire.)
- Safety toe shoes.
Education & Experience

- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related curriculum; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.

- You will be exposed to all types of weather conditions.
- You will be subject to emergency call backs, scheduled night work, and work during adverse weather/extreme circumstances.
