ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Audits, this role supports the Audit department in all functions. Responsibilities include organizing and conducting regular reviews of data in Internews’ Unit4 software to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The role also involves compiling data into dashboards and registers for easy consumption by internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required for tracking and maintaining internal databases, as well as extracting relevant data for visual report representation. An understanding of auditing, finance, and accounting procedures, along with knowledge of data visualization and other methods of summarizing numerical information, is essential.
LOGISTICS
Internews has US offices in Arcata, CA and Washington, DC which support a hybrid workforce with staff working remotely, fully in-office, or partially remote. This is a remote based role, and candidates based anywhere in the United States will be considered.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS will include:
Audit Support
- Perform daily and monthly tasks to support the audit team.
- Assist with all aspects of the annual Headquarters audit, including year-round preparation projects.
- Coordinate with business operations and country office teams to gather data and documentation for audits and special projects as needed.
- File, organize, review, and track document records to support various audits and special projects.
- Support the Senior Audit Associate in tracking remediation plans for internal and external audits.This role may also assist with limited follow-up testing to confirm the resolution of issues.
- Stay updated with continuous learning on internal auditing practices, policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and enhance overall audit and team quality.
- Coordinate with colleagues in the department; as requested, present information or guidance to other team members.
- Manage the team mailbox, including monitoring, organizing, and responding to inquiries or directing them to the appropriate team members.
- Tag office entries in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as required.
- Assist in retrieving and organizing documents from the ERP system to support audit processes.
- Conduct periodic reviews of assets and supplies to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Gather, organize, and reconcile legal invoices as needed.
- Support tasks related to projects ending within 120 days, including necessary reviews and follow-ups.
- Perform any vetting-related tasks as required.
- Track monthly voucher reviews and ensure accurate documentation of results.
Regular Compliance Monitoring
- Monitor reports of potential errors and compliance issues from Unit4 software and work with finance and program teams for resolutions.
- Coordinate with finance team members to complete monthly voucher reviews, resolve any related issues, and track results.
- Contribute to the completion of the monthly Local Accounting System Risk Report (LASRR) for distribution.
External Support and Solutions
- Support inventory acquisition and disposal processes and maintain accurate inventory information for all offices as needed.
- Backstops general functions of the Audit Team and overall Reporting, Financial Planning and Audit Department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Required
- Minimum 2 years of previous related experience in audit, data analysis, accounting, or bookkeeping.
- University degree or equivalent lived/professional experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for tracking and maintaining internal databases, as well as extracting relevant data for visual report representation.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to follow documented procedures; ability to take direction and work independently to complete tasks on time.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, actively listen, provide clear and concise information, and adapt communication styles to suit different cultural contexts while fostering a collaborative mindset.
- Proven organizational skills with good attention to detail.
- Proven ability to operate in a multicultural and remote work environment.
- Experience working both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Proven ability to set priorities and manage time effectively while handling multiple ongoing assignments.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred

- Knowledge of finance and accounting best practices, procedures, and administrative practices, including internal controls and previous audit support role.
- Prior experience working for an international nonprofit or in the international development sector.
This is an hourly, non-exempt position with an hourly range of US $24.42 – US $30.53, equivalent to US $50,800 - $63,500 per annum.
