The Challenge
We are looking for an Accounting Program Coordinator III to join our Division 8 team.
In this role, you will:

- Perform accounts payable functions involving specialized funds of considerable size and complexity.
- Work under the general supervision of our Business Officer and have your work reviewed for conformance to State and NCDOT policies and procedures through conferences, records, and reports.
- Have you work periodic reviewed by State Auditors and NC Budget Division.
- Assist our Business Officer in the maintenance and reconciliation of fixed assets and physical inventory.
- Serve as our backup for our Basic Safety Inspection Program (BSIP) Coordinator and Security Coordinator.
What You Bring
-
- Experience with accounting principles and practices.
- Experience working with accounts payable invoice deadlines and time sensitive documentation.
- General knowledge of purchasing processes,
- Computer skills in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and online databases, such as Ariba or SAP.
- Good verbal and written communication skills to present financial information and create clear, concise, and detailed reports.
- Ability to prepare standard financial statements and reports.
- Ability to identify and correct routine and recurring financial problems, referring more complex problems to senior staff.
- Ability to verify accounting documents and forms for accuracy and completeness.
- Knowledge of basic math computations.
- Accounts payable/receivable experience or working knowledge of fixed assets/inventory management.
- Experience compiling clear, concise, and detailed reports and communicating effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability completing job duties independently and working well in a team environment.

Education and Experience

- Bachelors degree, and
- 2+ years relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
