Non-Tenure Track Instructor in American Sign Language (ASL)
Position: The University of Illinois Department of Speech and Hearing Science (SHS; http://shs.illinois.edu) is seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate to join our American Sign Language (ASL) teaching team. The potential candidate will be hired as a full-time instructor to teach undergraduate-level ASL courses.

Appointment Information: This is a 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-track instructor position with the option of remote work. The expected start date is August 16, 2025. We strive to provide a competitive salary, considering available market data, internal equity, the candidate’s experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints. The final salary offer is determined after a thorough assessment of these elements and is expected to be in the range of $58,000 to $65,000.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to teaching needs in the undergraduate program, from ASL 1 to ASL 3 and Language and Culture of Deaf Communities.
• Work with the ASL team to develop and deliver online courses, with potential opportunities to contribute to program development and expand course offerings in ASL.
• Participate in departmental committees, as needed.
