Develop architectural/mechanical designs from concept through detailed drawing sets, for production, based on the specifications provided by the Client or SFM Client Service Manager (Manager). Collect scope and design intent from client as well as material quotes, vendor quotes, and internal labor hours for estimates and, in some cases, proposals. Throughout projects, bring enthusiastic creativity to problems and provide thoughtful solutions that result in high quality, long lasting, safe, and beautiful projects.

Major Responsibilities:
- Develop accurate and detailed digital drawing sets, for client approval.
- Handoff direction to shop about what and how to produce.
- (As determined by Shop Foreman or Shop Operations Manager) place vendor orders for some or all materials and hardware.
- Clarify scope of quote requests.
- Prepare estimated information in preparation for proposal.
- Maintain electronic information in an effective and clear manner.
- Communicate all project updates with client and Manager throughout project duration.
Skills & Qualifications:
Hard
- 3+ years of experience producing quality architectural and mechanical drawings for production (current portfolio available for viewing work).
- Possess a high degree of mechanical aptitude (preliminary aptitude assessment may be required).
- Strong in 3D modeling and creating 2D shop drawings from models.
- Extensive experience with Rhino 6+ (for 3D modeling and 2D drafting), Fusion 360 (or Solidworks), AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Excel.
- Extensive experience with Solidworks (or Fusion 360), Rhino 6 (or newer), Acrobat (or other PDF editor), and Google Sheets / Excel.
- Preferably, extensive hands-on fabrication experience to inform drafting and related communications.
- Preferably, experience with and knowledge of metalwork.
- Ability to analyze designs to identify and resolve issues in the beginning phases of the project.
- Have strong organizational, time management skills and verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects at a time to meet deadlines and change direction productively as needed while maintaining focus.

- Ability to effectively and openly communicate with the team to ensure project accuracy and quality.

Physical Demand and Work Environment: This is a part-time position (20 to 30 hrs per week) with the opportunity to move to full-time. General availability during PST business hours is expected and can be negotiated. May include up to 10 hours of sitting or standing working on a computer. While this position is remote, our shop is in Colusa, California.
Compensation: Wage is based on experience. Employee is expected to have their own technology (phone, computer, webcam, etc) to succeed in this role or can be provided company-owned technology as negotiated.
Salary
$30 - $45 per hour
