The Challenge
We are looking for an entry-level Assistant Division Design Construct Engineer to join our Project Development team.
 
In this role, you will assist:
    • With roadway design for managed projects.
    • Senior Engineers with calculations, quantity estimates, and project costs.
    • In comparison estimates for private engineering firms.
    • In checking plans and reviewing submittals from private engineering firms.
    • Working with junior technicians and attending project meetings.
What You Bring
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering.
    • Experience reading and interpreting highway construction plans and contracts.
    • Experience performing engineering analysis and preparing technical reports.
    • Considerable knowledge of math functions including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
    • Computer skills using iPad/laptops, Microsoft Office, GeoPak, MicroStation, and corridor modeling.
    • Ability to respond to the public, local government agencies, Raleigh-based staff and private engineering firms regarding the status and design aspects of highway projects within the Division.
    • Working knowledge of transportation design in accordance with AASHTO guidelines and NCDOT policies and procedures.
    • Experience reviewing/checking transportation plans and calculations.
    • Ability to budget time and coordinate schedules with others.
    • Agility to transverse steep and uneven terrain.
Note
    • We may require registration as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering; or
    • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
