Description

The University of Dallas Constantin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Assistant Professor of Biology position includes instruction at the undergraduate level.

The area of specialization is open, though candidates with a background in health sciences, anatomy, or physiology are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or a medical degree.  Postdoctoral experience is preferred, but not required. Successful candidates should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching, research, and mentorship.

The University of Dallas is a liberal arts institution that has a Core Curriculum that all undergraduate students must complete. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Biology courses for non-majors within the Core Curriculum and demonstrate familiarity with teaching methods central to a liberal arts education. Additionally, applicants will be expected to teach in the General Biology course series, which is collaboratively taught within the department, be responsible for teaching upper-division courses in anatomy, physiology, and other health-related topics, and have the potential to develop a new upper-level course that aligns with the candidate’s expertise.  The candidate will be expected to develop a research program that engages undergraduate students in a manner that helps them prepare for careers or graduate studies in health sciences or related fields.  Additional duties include advising biology majors, including students interested in health professions and continuing on to medical or graduate school, and serving on departmental and university committees.

Start date is August 2025.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach anatomy, physiology, and other health-related courses.
  • Develop upper-level electives in the area of expertise.
  • Establish and maintain a research program engaging undergraduate students.
  • Participate in professional, departmental, and university service activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. and/or M.D. or D.O.

Background in health sciences and/or anatomy/physiology

PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS

Postdoctoral experience

Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching, research, and mentorship
