Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial records of the Home Health Aide Institute, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions. This position provides an excellent opportunity for veterans looking to transition into civilian roles and use their organizational and financial skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Financial Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and Process Invoices: Generate and process invoices for students, clients, and vendors, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Payroll Processing: Assist with processing employee payroll, including timesheets, deductions, and benefits tracking, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the institute’s annual budget, track expenses, and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring that all financial records align with bank statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, reports, and summaries for management, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and home health care industry standards. Maintain all financial documentation in an organized manner for audit purposes.
  • Support Audits: Assist with the preparation and coordination of audits by providing necessary financial information and documentation.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional clerical and accounting duties as needed, including maintaining petty cash and assisting with financial projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in the healthcare, home health care, or educational sector.
    • Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
    • Experience with payroll systems and understanding of payroll taxes and regulations.
    • Knowledge of healthcare financial practices is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
