We are looking for an experienced Bridge Engineer to join our team in our Richmond, VA office. In this role, the engineer will work on a multi-disciplinary team developing bridge and structural plans for transportation projects for VDOT and/or municipal localities. This position will also include assisting with and/or leading Bridge Safety Inspections.
Requirements:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program, MS degree preferred.
- EIT Certification required - PE Certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia or be able to obtain certification within one year preferred
- 5-10 years of relevant experience required
- Experience with VDOT bridge design and bridge safety inspections preferred
- Additional Training or Certifications - candidates are preferred to possess all the certifications below at the time of hire or the applicable certifications required for client assignments.
- NHI-130055 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges) or NHI-130056 (Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges for Professional Engineers)
- NHI-130078 (Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges)
- NHI-130087 (Inspection and Maintenance of Ancillary Highway Structures)
- Must be willing to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, at heights, in confined spaces, over water and in close proximity to traffic with potential overnight work
- Understanding of bridge safety inspection methods, structural behavior, deterioration characteristics of bridge materials, and bridge maintenance, repair and rehabilitation methods is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Bridge software and other bridge design software such as LARSA, MIDAS, MDX, and LEAP Products
- Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
