The Challenge
We are hiring an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Whittier Construction team.
In this role, you will
-
- Serve as a Project Inspector on roadway and structure projects.
- Review National Pollutant Discharge Elimination Systems (NPDES) paperwork and complete assorted documentation, including daily diaries, sample cards, asphalt reports, concrete reports, pay record books, materials received forms, and monthly estimate.
- Monitor and inspect erosion control and traffic control devices.
- Test concrete, perform densities (conventional & nuclear), take materials samples, and inspect asphalt.
- Take field measurements and perform calculations and computations to determine contract pay quantities.
What You Bring
-
- Experience performing materials inspections, sampling, and testing (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
- Demonstrated ability supervising work of others to obtain desired results.
- Working knowledge of pay record book entries and material received reports.
- Skills evaluating and applying engineering judgement to construction plans, contract provisions, and inspection procedures.
- Experience maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
Education & Experience
-
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and
- 2+ years of engineering technician experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
