SALARY: $42,464 - $74,313
The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our District 2 Permitting Team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Process and review driveway permits, site plans, utility and non-utility encroachment agreements, subdivision plans, and road additions/abandonments.
    • Perform onsite inspections for compliance to NCDOT specifications for driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivisions.
    • Lead pre-construction meetings with requesting parties.
    • Perform field inspections and prepare deficiency letters relating to road additions, driveway permits, and encroachments.
    • Meet with utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to policies and procedures, answer questions, and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.
    • Assist during emergencies and bad weather.
    • Assist our District Engineer with other tasks.
    • Safely operate a state-owned vehicle.
What You Bring
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Computer skills using Microsoft Office and drafting applications.
    • Experience reading and interpreting construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and procedures.
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Safety toe shoes.
Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
    • 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
