SALARY: $42,464 - $74,313
The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician III to join our Duplin County Maintenance team.
 
In this role, you will:
    • Support senior Technicians and Engineers in preparing plans, documents, estimates and contracts.
    • Perform onsite inspections for compliance to NCDOT specifications for driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivisions.
    • Conduct pre-construction meetings with requesting parties.
    • Perform field inspections for maintenance contracts, organize and maintain as built and road files.
    • Meet with utility representatives, contractors, property owners, and others to discuss adherence to policies and procedures, answer questions, and address complaints from the public by phone, written correspondence, and in person.
    • Assist our County Maintenance Engineer during emergencies and bad weather.
    • Operate a state-owned vehicle.
What You Bring
    • Working knowledge of NCDOT standard specifications, standard drawings, and project special provisions.
    • Experience conducting independent, complex inspections for roadway and resurfacing projects to ensure compliance with contract documents, plans, with limited supervision.
    • Experience performing inspections, material sampling and testing (concrete, asphalt density) to ensure compliance with NCDOT specifications.
    • Experience maintaining neat, legible, and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry.
    • Skills using basic office equipment.
    • Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, ArcView, SAP, MMS, and SPPP.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Safety toe shoes.
    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Education and Experience
    • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, and
    • 3+ years of relevant technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
