Minimum Requirements:
United States Citizenship.
Must be 21 years of age at time of application, and under 35 years of age at time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt by statute.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a current State of Illinois Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter certification.
Must have EMT-Paramedic license issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) or must be currently enrolled in a IDPH approved paramedic program. Paramedic license due at time of hire.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within 12 months prior to the application deadline.
Must pass written examination and oral interview. Must pass, after conditional job offer, polygraph test, medical exam, psychological exam, drug screening and an extensive background investigation.
If hired and prior to completing probation, you must live within 25 miles from corporate limits of the City of Geneva. Residency must be obtained before the completion of his/her probationary period.

Testing Information:
The written examination will be given in a virtual format, and you will take the exam in your own home. The virtual exam will be scheduled during business hours the week of December 2nd – no weeknight or weekend sessions will be offered. You are responsible in ensuring you have the flexibility to test during this time. Additional details and instructions will be provided to eligible candidates.
