Job Description
LIM is currently seeking an experienced fixed income trader to execute transactions in municipal (taxable and tax-exempt), government, and corporate (IG and HY) bonds held across separately managed institutional client portfolios. This dynamic role will collaborate with LIM PMs, analysts, and the operations team to effectively implement trading decisions and provide strategy input. The role will be based in our Boston office.
Primary responsibilities:
- Gather and effectively disseminate timely market, sector, and relative value information to the investment team. Contribute to overall market analysis as well as municipal and corporate bond investment strategies.
- Interact with portfolio managers and analysts to effectively implement municipal, government, and corporate bond trades in a time-sensitive, appropriate, and accurate manner.
- Continuously monitor portfolio positions and suggest optimal security and curve positioning consistent with client objectives and guidelines.
- Assist in the rebalancing of portfolios in response to cash flows, benchmark changes, market price movements, and changes in client guidelines.
- Professionally interact with the dealer community to enhance LIM’s trading relationships; partner with traders across the firm to share market insights, liquidity assessments, and valuations.
- Utilize technology to enhance trading efficiency.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience with detailed knowledge of municipal bond markets and a demonstrated history of making investment and trading decisions in a total-return context. Corporate bond trading experience a plus.
- Superior analytical skills, understanding of best execution practices, and knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience and capability to manipulate data through various technology, platforms, and spreadsheet applications.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to multi-task.
- A bachelor’s degree. Advanced degree and/or CFA designation, or progress towards a CFA, is a plus.
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic coupled with a willingness to ask questions.
