We are seeking a highly motivated Highway Engineer with a strong technical background to join our growing team in Austin, Texas Candidates must have excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills and have the ability to be highly responsive to clients. A candidate’s experience in, or a strong desire to develop oversight, mentorship, and staff management support skills is a bonus.
Responsibilities:
The Highway Engineering will work on a variety of transportation related projects within Texas, with the potential to work on projects nationally. The Highway Engineer will participate in the development of roadway alignments, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, roadside evaluation and design, maintenance of traffic design, preparation of construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and the development of technical reports. Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting Senior Project Engineers in a variety of tasks as well as managing projects.
Requirements:
The successful applicant must possess the following:
- 4-9 years of experience in the design of transportation projects
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer license, preferably in Texas
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO guidelines; knowledge of TXDOT specifications, policies, and procedures preferred
- Experience designing roadway projects and preparing contract documents in accordance with TXDOT policies and procedures preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate orally/written at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, InRoads, and OpenRoads preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Outlook)
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
- Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company
- Openness to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work
