Whitman, Requardt & Associates is seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to join our Jacksonville, FL office. Core responsibilities include roadway design and plans production for highway projects, including but not limited to horizontal and vertical alignments, roadside evaluation and design, maintenance of traffic design, utility coordination, specifications, cost estimates, and development of technical reports. Our highway contracts range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and new corridor designs to statewide and districtwide continuing services contracts. We also provide a full range of design-build and owner’s representative services.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Florida or ability to obtain license within 6 months of employment.
5 - 10 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.
Experience designing roadway projects and preparing contract documents in accordance with FDOT policies and procedures; experience with other state and local agencies in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic a plus.
3D design experience a plus.
Experience with Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, P3, etc.) a plus.
Ability to travel to project sites, company offices and client meetings.
Experience with design software tools such as MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads, InRoads, and AutoCAD preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Effective oral and written communication skills at all organizational levels.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Capability to handle multiple assignments.
Willingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the company.
Openness to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing work.
