A day in the life:

• Perform manual labor and operate heavy and light equipment.
• Use all types of hand tools.
• Apply, maintain and replace roadway/highway striping and road markings.
• Remove existing paint using sand blasting or grinding equipment.
• Operate and maintain striping equipment and vehicles.
• Work closely with hazardous materials such as epoxy, paints, thermoplastics, thinners, and acetones.
• Collaborate with contractors to help determine layout of road markings and striping.
• Work in and around heavy construction equipment and stay in compliance with safety policy.
• Must be able to move around rough terrain, on uneven slopes and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.
• May be required to be available for emergency calls 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• May need to travel throughout the region for various stripping projects.

Minimum qualifications:

One year of experience performing basic highway maintenance work;

OR

Two years of general landscaping, maintenance, mechanical, farming, logging, and/or construction experience or training.

 

Special qualifications:

• This position requires a maximum 45 minute response time to 2775 25th Street SE, Salem, OR 97302 for emergency call-outs.
• Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

• A current, valid commercial driver’s license A (CDL-A) with tanker endorsement or a CDL permit is preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in striping or highway maintenance.

• Demonstrated experience using a computer to access emails and input data.
• Demonstrated experience using hand tools and operating light and heavy equipment such as tractors, excavators, loaders or dump trucks.

• Demonstrated experience in reviewing, reading and interpreting striping plans.
