Position Overview

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a licensed Nurse Practitioner to serve as the Infection Control Coordinator for the Division of Developmental Disabilities, State Operated Developmental Centers (SODC) located in Kankakee, Illinois. The incumbent will monitor the review of all suspected and proven infections, develop and review facility Infection Control policies and procedures and provide clinical advice and guidance to treatment staff on the implementation of infection control procedures.

 

Essential Functions

  • Serves as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and the Infection Control Coordinator for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Assess the health care needs and disability management issues of individuals served within the State Operated Developmental Centers (SODC’s).
  • Serves as a medical resource to the Deputy Director regarding health and medical issues and safety concerns at SODC’s.
  • Serves as an active and contributing member on committees, staff meetings, teaching conferences and clinical committees.
  • Assists in the development and monitoring of health care plan for SODC’s.
  • Provides emergency care when nursing staff identify an acute medical/psychiatric need and request an individual be seen immediately.
  • Completes all mandatory training requirements and participates in continuing education workshops and seminars to maintain professional competency.
  • Serves on-call as assigned for any problematic areas encountered in completing assigned duties.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires current licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Illinois.

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires the ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Requires the Certification of Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) in accordance with the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation issues 03/09/2020, Executive Order 2020-10 and the Department of Human Services operational efforts to meet urgent public health conditions.
  • Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays on a rotation basis.
  • Requires the ability travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
  • Requires the ability to physically restrain patients as necessary to prevent injury to the patient or others.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
