The Opportunity: We are seeking to hire an Intake Specialist to join our Intake & Assessment Team. This individual will provide diagnostic assessments for individuals seeking behavioral health services with the agency.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide diagnostic assessment services for persons referred to Community Support Services per established agency procedures, including the completion of all required documentation.
- Consult with immediate supervisor and/or the Chief Clinical Officer regarding clinical concerns including potential risk for self-harm, suicide, and homicide. Follow clinical recommendations as indicated.
- Complete off-site intakes as assigned.
- Refer persons seen for intake to alternative agencies based on clinical needs when appropriate.
- Assist with responding to clinical inquiries made through agency e-mail and telephone calls as requested.
- Conduct appropriate follow-up when individuals do not attend scheduled intake appointments.
- Refer to the Engagement Team when appropriate based on established protocols.
- Coordinate with local hospitals as requested.
- If deemed as a Health Officer by the Summit County ADM Board, conduct assessments for emergency admission, completing any required documentation.
- Observe all rules of confidentiality as it relates to persons served, information both internally and in dealing with outside individual(s) and /or agencies.
- Responsible for being knowledgeable about rights of individuals served and procedures governing them.
- This position is full-time (40 hours a week) working normal business hours.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required.
- Minimum of LSW or LPC required.
- Prior experience in working with individuals with severe and/or persistent mental illnesses desirable.
- Knowledge of local community resources, including NAMI Summit County and 12-step groups.
- A deeply held belief in CSS’s recovery-centered mission.
- Demonstrated skill in developing positive relationships with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse challenges.
- Knowledge of mental health/substance abuse/co-occurring definitions, diagnosis, services, and medications.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles.
- Ability to negotiate assertively from an advocacy viewpoint.
- Excellent organizational, attention to detail and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook.
- Skill in managing time and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work non-judgmentally with individuals whose behavior and belief systems are incongruent with that of society and/or your personal beliefs.
- Perseverance in goals with individuals who may not improve or may only improve slowly.
