What we are looking for
Aleto Inc. is seeking to hire an Interior Designer to provide support for space planning, design, construction, closeout, and related analytical services over the client's entire leased or owned asset lifecycle. Work includes significant project management responsibility. Expert knowledge of the function and responsibility for the development of work plans or implementation strategic direction; discerns priorities in conjunction with the COR, program/project manager, and the accounts director - assists in the development of the day-to-day tactical plan for the project or team. Ensures accomplishment of projects as assigned by the program/project manager and client. This position will be Hybrid with Onsite requirements of 30-40% of the time at the Washington D.C. Agency HQ.
Interview Process

If an offer is extended, the start date is determined by availability and the amount of time it takes for the government background clearance process (depending on the client).
Interior Designer-Essential Job Duties
Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists in the oversight of subcontractors for specific needs.
- Conduct reviews of all client space assignments to verify effective space utilization and identify the requirements and opportunities for changes.
- Assist with the planning & development, execution, and close out of interior projects to contribute to the client's brand and workplace innovation strategy including but not limited to:
- Scheduling
- Estimating/Budgeting
- Developing Scopes of Work
- Reviewing and responding to submittals and requests for information (RFI)
- Developing design intent drawings
- Reviewing and responding to change order requests; and
- Overseeing Administration, Construction Management, transfer of documentation, and turnover to building O&M and branch staff
- Coordinate with other client personnel and external vendors/contractors to ensure delivery of a successful project space documentation and data is accurate and conform to client’s design/software standards.
- Maintain thorough records and report periodically, as required, on project status, risk, and progress.
- Facilitate and coordinate government agency furniture planning and installation, including but not limited to procurement advisory services, furniture standards development, and ad hoc furniture project management following the agency’s space policy and contracts.
- Prepare and maintain As-Built Drawings to track all portfolio space verifying USF and Rentable Square Foot (RSF) according to the client’s space standards.
- Update the record drawings (XRef files in AutoCAD) for all client space and drawing templates using the appropriate software.
- Participates in regularly scheduled site walks to confirm project site conditions and progress.
- Conduct design and construction meetings with clients to review contract documents and drawings, furniture specifications, space plans, and finish selections.
- Participate in meetings as required for project coordination with Architects, Engineers, AV/IT, General Contractors, GSA Project and Building Management staff, and other stakeholders.
- Review all project documents for compliance to plan, budget, schedule, etc., and raise concerns or flag issues to agency staff.
- Facilitate meetings, virtual or in-person; share the screen with the approved agenda; assist the team in compiling the attendee list; regular contributor to meeting minutes and summaries.
- Accomplish all tasks appropriately assigned or requested.
- Occasional domestic travel approximately once per quarter.
ALETO JOB DUTIES
- Compliance with all Aleto processes, standards, and guidelines including utilizing the employee and intranet platforms, entering time daily, submitting expense reports, providing monthly progress reports, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:
- Must be able to pass a background check and obtain HSPD-12 public trust credentials (US citizenship required).
- A degree in business, architecture, engineering, or interior design with 5+ years of overall experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience is desired.
- Experience working on federal contracts and familiarity with government contracting procedures is preferred.
- Prior experience supporting the development of written proposals, scopes of work, scheduling, and coordinating with subcontractors.
- Working knowledge of facilities management, facilities enterprise decision-making recommendations, and rules, policies, and practices related to government facilities.
- Background in systems furniture, furniture procurement, and personnel relocation is desired.
- Working knowledge of BOMA, national building codes, life safety codes, ADA compliance
- Industry designation preferred (NCIDQ, Registered Architect, Professional Engineer, PMP, etc.)
Technological Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, and Adobe products.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project or equivalent critical path method scheduling software.
- Experience facilitating virtual meetings (such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet)
- Experience working with AutoCAD / Sketchup

Environment and Physical Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time, move inside and around an office, position themself to access items located in high or low areas, and transport items weighing up to 20 pounds across the office. Requires the constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery and the ability to observe details at a close range typically within a few feet of the observer.
