Line Operator (Day Shift)

Dura-Line, an Orbia business, is hiring Line Operators to join our Elyria, OH Team.

Schedule: Day Shift Hours 6:45am – 7:00pm (2-2-3 shift rotation)

Pay: Competitive starting hourly wage of $18.00 per hour.

 

Job Description 

As a Line Operator, you will play a critical role in operating extrusion lines, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy. The Line Operator will collaborate with fellow production workers to ensure that orders are properly wound onto reels for shipment to customers, assist line start-ups and reel changes.

 

This position is a full-time position, on-site at our extrusion plant located at: 860 Garden St. Elyria OH 44035

 

What can you expect in a Line Operator role at Dura-Line? 

  • You will use your attention to detail to perform basic quality checks that will ensure that the product meets customer specifications.
  • You will perform all work cautiously, with safety of yourself and fellow team members at the top of mind always.
  • You will help to maintain a safe space for your team to share feedback and ideas for improvements.
  • Ensure all products are produced free from cosmetic and physical defects and within manufacturing tolerances.
  • Monitor and adjust operating conditions to produce the highest attainable quality of pipe safely and efficiently.
  • Review product and equipment throughout the shift to confirm material and quality requirements are met.
  • Oversee and document the quality of the product run, maintaining accurate inventory transactions.
  • Record "Lost Production Hours," including reasons for lost time, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with other operators to maintain production schedules and make necessary tooling changes.

What does Dura-Line need from you? 

  • 2-3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Your commitment to being a reliable and punctual team player. (Attendance on scheduled workdays is a must!)
  • Your commitment to wearing gloves, eye protection, and steel toe boots always, and dust mask, earplugs, hard hats, and face shields as necessary.
  • Strong mathematical skills: ability to perform basic calculations and measurements.
  • Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workspace.
  • Your ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance, as well as the ability to push and pull pipe coils.
  • Your ability to work most of the time indoors on the plant floor, with heat, dust, and noise and work some of the time outdoors in any weather condition.
  • Your ability to remain in a stationary, standing position 80-100% of the time. Must be able to squat, bend, or stoop as much as 25% of the time on some days.
  • Proficiency in operating hand and pneumatic powered strapping tools, chains, slings, hooks, and keyboard on microprocessor equipment.
  • Working knowledge of extruders, printers, reelers, vacuum systems, chiller systems, resin systems, pullers, quality control standards, and product specifications is a plus.
