Position Overview: The candidate will provide Linux administration of a virtualized data center computing environment. The candidate will participate in the program value streams to provide management and support of all Linux-based system within the platforms and other related duties as assigned.
Works alongside other platform teams to provide management and support for all Red Hat based services on the platform; includes but is not limited to Red Hat IdM Red Hat SSO, and Red Hat Satellite. In addition to Red Hat products, candidate is expected to support troubleshooting and maintenance across other Linux-based services.
Required Experience/Qualifications: Basic understanding of IT fundamentals. Candidate is expected to have a general understanding of networking and the OSI model to assist in troubleshooting efforts. Basic understanding of the following terms and uses within an information system are required:
- IP Address
- MAC Address
- VLAN
- DNS
- DHCP
Competence with Linux technologies; Red Hat specific a plus but not required. Candidate must have a working knowledge of basic Linux fundamentals as it pertains to command line management of Linux-based systems; this includes (but is not limited to) the following:
- Set or change hostname
- Set or change IP
- Install patches
- Change permission of files
- Working with and troubleshooting SELinux strongly preferred; general understanding of SELinux as a capability and its use is required
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as information technology, computer science, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university and Two (2) years' experience solving complex engineering and technical problems.
- Ability to obtain DoD IAT Level II (or greater) certification (i.e. CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CISSP, or other equivalent certification).
Preferred Experience: General understanding of automation fundamentals. This can be with automation technologies (i.e. Ansible, Terraform, etc.) or via basic scripting (i.e. Bash, Python, etc.).
- Basic understanding of shell scripting
- Basic understanding of one major scripting language (Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
- Basic understanding of one major automation technology (Ansible, Terraform, Chef, etc.)
- Basic understanding of LDAP; FreeIPA, 389-DS, or OpenLDAP preferred
- A strong desire to learn in a rapid paced environment
Special Requirements/Security Clearance:
In accordance with the specifications of a government contract, eligibility for this position mandates U.S. Citizenship status and a TS/SCI security clearance. The precise security clearance requisites will be detailed in the Government's Task Order.
