General Description:

ABC 57 News is looking for a Nightside Technical Director to direct a fast-paced, cutting-edge newscast utilizing the Grass Valley Ignite automation system. Director is responsible for the entire automated control room system: cameras, audio, graphics & Ignite. The schedule for this position will be 3am-11am Thursdays, and 3pm-12am Friday through Monday.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Direct newscasts on Grass Valley Ignite automation system.

Directing involves being simultaneously responsible for switcher, studio, audio, camera, & graphics systems all while providing the newscast with good direction through communication & switching.

Code newscasts using iNews and offer solutions & alternatives to producers when necessary.

Create graphics for news using Adobe CC among other tools.

Manage studio including set materials & lighting.

Responsible for oversight of live broadcast, including ticker & other alert systems.

Work with Producers, Anchors, and Reporters to improve presentation & flow of the newscast.

Perform other related duties as assigned, such as prompter operation, editing, & videography.

The opportunity to produce promotional & other creative elements is also potentially possible.

Requirements:

On-site work required. Remote work is not available.

Previous experience with broadcast technology is a plus but not necessary.

Ability to handle non-scripted breaking news environment is a must.

Ability to climb ladders to replace set lights is necessary.

Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes.

Must be able to communicate effectively and work independently.
