Position Overview

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. The mission of the Division is to assist individuals with disabilities in achieving their goals of employment, education, and independent living. This position coordinates customer case records and documents in a field office pertaining to the service delivery activities to customers in the Bureau of Customer and Community Field Services/Vocational Rehabilitation Program This position performs keyboarding and other routine clerical tasks and activities essential to securing and maintaining sensitive case files, records and documentation (both electronic and hardcopy), and facilitating the purchase and delivery of services, in accordance with federal, state and agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and current operating practices; works with the agency’s case management system, monitors customer case status and prepares annotated reports for counselor; and interacts with field office staff and internal and external customers in person, phone and/or email. The Division of Rehabilitation Services is seeking to hire a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills.

Essential Functions

  • Works with counselor(s) and the case management system to determine daily priority of customer service delivery.
  • Meets with counselor(s) routinely review case management activities and problems encountered.
  • Assists applicants, program participants, family members/guardians/care givers, vendors and referring agencies with understanding program rules, policies, eligibility criteria and various other aspects of the vocational rehabilitation program.
  • Triages and prioritizes incoming mail, email, phone calls, voicemail, and drop-in customers.
  • Meets with Vocational Rehabilitation Program staff within the office and/or office supervisor to plan and/or discuss general casework activities.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires two (2) years of clerical related experience that demonstrates incorporation of working-level proficiency and accuracy in performing keyboarding functions.

*Qualifying state employees, in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this class.
