The Research Scientist III will provide geospatial and information technology assistance and specialization for the Inter-Agency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) in the Earth Systems Science Center. The candidate will work across multiple IMPACT projects related to data science, machine learning, satellite remote sensing and numerical modeling applications.

Duties/Responsibilities
• The candidate will develop and implement software across multiple projects.
• Communicate in written and oral format with UAH and NASA IMPACT team members.
• Present at major conferences.
• Write peer-reviewed publications.
• Write reports as needed.

Minimum Requirements
• Master's degree in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• Minimum of 2.5 - 3 years of full-time verifiable work experience
• Strong knowledge of machine learning in earth, atmosphere applications
• Working knowledge of programming languages including Python
• Subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas : water resources, land use, land cover and hydrological applications
• Proven record of multiple peer reviewed publications
• Strong communication skills

Desired Qualifications
• Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Earth Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience is preferred
• Proposal writing experience is preferred

Salary: $88,528 - $94,170
