Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Residential Services Supervisor for the Fox Developmental Center located in Dwight, Illinois to serve as a working supervisor to direct care personnel in the provision of non-professional services, programs and activities for individual’s served who are developmentally disabled on multiple units. Provides supervisory coverage to other units in the absence of that supervisor. Assists supervisor and professional staff in the planning and implementation of habilitation programs. Serves as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team assisting in the formulation and implementation of the Assessment/Habilitation Planning/Program and Service Implementation Process. Coordinates and integrates shift routines/programs with those occurring on all shifts.
Essential Functions
- Directs direct care personnel in the provision of non-professional services, programs and activities for individual’s served who are developmentally disabled on multiple assigned units.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Provides orientation and training to new staff in the areas for facility policy and procedures, physical care, treatment plan goals and objects, individual/shift record completion and maintenance.
- Serves as a member of an Interdisciplinary Team.
- Completes and/or reviews forms, logs, and reports including injury reports, restraint forms, living area reports, supply requisitions, daily living area reports, etc.
- Provides supervisory coverage to other units in the absence of their supervisor.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree, with coursework in the health and human services fields, plus two years direct care experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting or requires two years resident care supervisory experience in a mental health/rehabilitation residential care setting.
*Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the state requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of professional experience supervising staff.
- Two (2) years of professional experience assessing operational needs and delegating staff appropriately in a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of professional experience communicating effectively orally and in writing.
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with individuals with physical disabilities and addressing the behaviors and problems.
- One (1) year of professional experience performing quality assurance activities.
- Two (2) years of experience in guiding and training staff.

- Requires the ability to utilize office equipment including personal computers.
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
- Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
