Job Description: Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for the design and development of assembly manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures and providing rework instructions/ process improvements on travelers in order to meet daily production schedules while enhancing productivity and product quality. Employee develops and implements optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with customer product specifications, quality standards and designs, implement manufacturing processes for new or revised products in support of engineering, as well as towards continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on role with a growth potential of taking up overall responsibility and leadership of Manufacturing Engineering. The ability to learn to build switches and troubleshoot issues, then work on improvements will be the basis for success in this role. Previous experience in automation is a big plus. Hands-on experience with tool and die design/ manufacturing using wire EDMs mills, grinders and lathes will be a plus.
Working experience in lean manufacturing with a proven track record of cost savings is important.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and support manufacturing processes for new products, product changes, enhancement, and related tooling and fixtures which are consistent with zero defect level as well as low product cost in coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance and R & D functions; must be proficient with Solidworks or a similar high-end CAD software, and good working knowledge of GD&T as per ASME Y14.5
- Maintain accurate documentation of processes, manufacturing procedures, material records, design concepts, tool/fixture drawings and shop orders in coordination with Engineering, Quality Assurance and R & D functions;
- Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to production departments; prior experience in Assembly, Machine Shop and Fabrication driving improvements are a requirement
- Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities, while introducing some level of automation
- Assist engineering product development staff to ensure that products under development possess optimal manufacturability and resolve manufacturing issues; drive production readiness of new products while continuously improving existing products and processes
- May determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide technical guidance to other personnel (technicians and operators) including training on new and revised processes
- Responsible for creating Assembly and Manufacturing Travelers and Standard Work Instructions;
- Complete accurate and timely preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling;
- Responsible for advising status of work and reporting any difficulties with those concerned;
- Train employees on methods, tooling, and procedures for product assembly or fabrication;
- Support company goals, objectives, policies, procedures, good manufacturing practices, and regulations;
- Keep quality up to acceptable standards with little to no discrepant work;
- Perform task equal to or exceeding established standards;
- Conduct himself/herself in a business-like and civil manner
- Ability to react to changes productively and perform other essential tasks as assigned;
- Maintaining a working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO policies, procedures, and directives.

Skills and Requirements:
- Applicant must be ITAR compliant
- Superior knowledge of all manufacturing engineering design functions
- Good working knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies, Six Sigma tools, RCCA, PFMEA, DFM, and Kaizen events
- Ability to work on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
- Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
