Description

Bring projects to fruition using both traditional fabrication methods and modern CNC technology to produce high-end custom architectural metalwork, which includes furniture, counter tops, railings, cabinets, and doors.

Description

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize and care for equipment in the shop.
    1. Determine relevant production equipment or methods based on project requirements.
    2. Operate machinery at production levels with little to no supervision.
    3. Maintain equipment in good condition in order to ensure productivity while not compromising safety.
  2. Work with different kinds of metal alloys (including precious metals) in accordance with their unique properties.
  3. Provide quality control, report errors, provide solutions to keep production flowing.
    1. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
    2. Upon completion of assembly ensure product is free of any weld or dimensional defects as well as meets specified finish quality levels.
    3. Creatively solve challenges with team or individually as they arise to ensure that all customer requirements are met.

Skills & Qualifications:

Hard:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree or certification in welding or fabrication is preferred.
  • 5+ years as a metal fabricator in fine metalworking (i.e. architectural stainless steel, aluminum).
  • Experience with all architectural metals (including copper based alloys) preferred.
  • Especially strong in layout skills.
  • Mastery in standard machinery: Cold saw, bandsaw, hydraulic shear drill press, belt sander, common electrical / manual hand-operated tools, etc. in addition to an ability to operate or learn to operate a Bridgeport mill, CNC press brake, powered angle roller (80 ton).
  • Analytic thinker and quick problem solver with solid mechanical knowledge.
  • Proficiency using a variety of welding / cutting equipment and procedures (Tig and Mig).
  • Plasma Torch experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with metal patination is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings including welding symbols.
  • Must have consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to set up components for fabrication according to specifications.
  • Ability to work with team members and take direction from management in order to complete complicated, multi-part assemblies.

  • Able to take coaching and feedback constructively.

Physical Demand and Work Environment: This position requires working in a medium industrial setting where the noise level in the building can be loud. This role requires the use of CNC cutting equipment that can be dangerous if not handled safely and responsibly. Employees must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs repeatedly. Position regularly requires employees to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, reach overhead, and climb stairs and ladders. May include standing for up to 10 hours in a day.

Hours & Compensation: 30–40 hours per week and the hours are generally 6:00am–4:30pm, Monday–Thursday.  Wage based on experience,
