Salary: $6,268 - $9,472 (Per month)

The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at the Information Systems Specialist 7 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an Information Systems Specialist 6 ($5,660- $ 8,572) to apply, as we may consider underfilling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for the Information Systems Specialist 7. Underfill training will not exceed three years.

A day in the life:

  • Assess business needs, analyze systems and design software to improve business processes.
  • Manage and help design and develop complex systems and assist with creating all necessary documents and program materials.
  • Collaborate with various teams, vendors and agencies to resolve conflicting requirements and negotiate solutions for system developments.
  • Develop requests for proposal documents and evaluate vendor proposals for software, programming services or hardware acquisitions.
  • Support and participate in planning processes, acting as a customer advocate to ensure business needs are represented and prioritized correctly.
  • Develop and recommend cost and time estimates and performance factors for accomplishing assignments, tasks and proposed alternatives.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex user problems, including critical system crashes and verify software fixes to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Develop and conduct formal training sessions for users and staff on new systems and software packages.
  • Design efficient database structures by evaluating data relationships and provide database plans and solutions for critical systems.
  • Work in an office environment 1-2 times a month or as needed with hybrid work options available.

Minimum qualifications for Information System Specialist 7:

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience in supporting application development and production for IS applications;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information systems experience in application development and production for IS applications;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in application development and production for IS applications;

OR

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

 

Underfill minimum qualifications for Information Systems Specialist 6:

  • Five (5) years of information systems experience in supporting application development and production for IS applications;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in supporting application development and production for IS applications;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in supporting application development and production for IS applications.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining various client-server and browser-based applications, including analysis, design, troubleshooting, coding, unit testing and specification writing.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing analysis, technical documentation, business and technical requirements, design specifications, code construction, application configuration and implementation plans.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and implementing Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) solutions within an enterprise environment with strong change and release management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience using and working with the following technologies and techniques: VB.Net, C#, IIS and SQL Server, MoveIt, FileNet, HTML5, PHP, RESTful web services, Machine learning, LLMs, JavaScript, CSS, JQuery, JSON and XML.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and bringing new technologies and approaches into an environment pertaining to application development.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and training peers and subordinates on new technical skills.
