RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible in all facets of land acquisition to effectively identify, negotiate, and secure the necessary property rights for infrastructure and maintenance projects.
- Ensure compliance with real estate and environmental laws, as well as local and federal regulations, throughout all land use and siting activities.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across multiple disciplines and aligns land-related activities with project objectives and timelines.
- Act as a liaison with landowners, customers, community stakeholders.
- Mediate concerns between landowners and the Company while developing and maintaining relationships.
- Represent the Company at public meetings and hearings. Works directly with public agencies and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a resource for colleagues within the Company.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree PLUS four years or more of related experience required.
OR - Associate degree PLUS six or more years of related experience required.
OR - High school diploma or equivalent PLUS eight or more years of related experience required.
Field of study in Real Estate Management, Land Survey, Geography, Urban Studies, Forestry, International Right of Way – Intermediate or Senior ROW Agent, business related studies, or equivalent preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employee's position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to Duluth, MN.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be willing to travel to attend stakeholder meetings or other events. Locations could be within the Company’s service territory, where Company assets and/or projects are located and government agency locations.
- Requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to foster positive working relationships
- Proven verbal and written communications skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
BENEFITS:
- The expected annual compensation range for this position is $70,000 - $87,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, this position qualifies for a comprehensive benefits package, including an Incentive Program, Retirement Benefits, Medical, Dental & Vision Plans, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, Life Insurance, Disability, Tuition Reimbursement, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences, and more.
