The Challenge
We're looking for a skilled surveying engineering technician to join our Location & Surveys team.
  
In this role, you will:
    • Perform advanced technical work supporting our senior technicians and engineers.
    • Serve as survey crew leader providing base mapping for highway design functions.
    • Perform tasks using conventional surveys, CADD equipment, and GPS.
    • Complete moderate to complex assignments analyzing, computing, editing, processing, and recommending corrective actions for data sources.
    • Review completed field data and CADD mapping prepared by an NCDOT survey party to ensure completeness and accuracy.
    • Perform duties requiring decision-making and good use of judgment, including directing the work of others.
    • Be responsible for the safety of your survey crew during field operations.
What You Bring
    • Experience accurately reading, understanding, interpreting, and applying NCDOT and Location & Surveys procedures, policies, data provided through CADD files, plans sheets, and maps relating to engineering and other types of land surveying.
    • Experience planning, directing, managing, and leading the work of junior technicians in survey field and office work.
    • Experience working with survey equipment, i.e. total stations and GNSS receivers.
    • Experience developing maps/plans through CADD using CADD software.
    • Experience with standards, principles, and practices of NC surveying.
Education & Experience
    • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, and
    • 3+ years progressive technician experience; or
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
