SALARY: $46,817 - $81,930
 
The Challenge
We're looking for an advanced surveying engineering specialist to join our DDC team.
In this role, you will:
    • Supervise field surveys and mapping in our DDC office.
    • Perform surveying, data collection, and mapping for division-managed projects of varying scope and size.
    • Perform data management, integrate data into design files, property reconnaissance, and field ties, and compute property information to determine R/W impacts.
    • Perform route location surveys.
    • Design horizontal and vertical alignments, construction surveys, and development and analysis of 3D surface models.
What You Bring
    • Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
    • Customer service experience solving problems involving explaining complicated engineering concepts to customer groups.
    • Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
    • Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
    • Computer experience, including Microsoft Office, drafting software, MicroStation, GeoPak, and a familiarity with corridor modeling.
    • Ability to respond to the public, local government agencies, Raleigh-based staff, and private engineering firms regarding the status and design aspects of highway projects in the Division.
    • Working knowledge of field surveying procedures.
    • Proficiency with robotic instruments, data collection, and GPS.
    • Ability to budget time and coordinate schedules with others.
    • Agility to transverse steep and uneven terrain.
  
Education & Experience
    • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related discipline, and
    • 6+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
    • High School/GED Diploma, and
    • 8+ years progressive technician experience; or
      
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
