We are looking for an energetic, intellectually curious individual to join our Operational Systems team.
You will be working with a highly motivated, talented group supporting safe and reliable operation of the electric grid for much of Northern Minnesota. Collectively the team is responsible for managing a full stack of technology – from hypervisors to applications to operating systems to physical hardware and the network that connects it all. Supporting systems for configuration management, patching, backups, and cyber security are included in the mix as well.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In this role, your primary focus will be supporting Transmission and Distribution Engineers administering Minnesota Power’s substation operational technology and supporting systems including: SEL 3620s, network switches, SEL Blueframe, ENOSERV, HVDC Control Systems and others.
- Maintain current technologies while continuously improving compliance, regulatory, and security processes and procedures - including NERC CIP compliance standards and corporate best practices.
- Provide support and training to other members of the team.
- Create and maintain documentation, and ensure system performance and reliability.
- This is a dynamic role that calls for continuous learning and frequent collaboration with team members and stakeholders throughout the business.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field of study
- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- 4+ years of experience in any of the following areas:
- Primary skillsets
- SEL Blueframe Administration
- ENOSERV PowerBase
- SEL 3620 Administration
- SEL or GE Relays
- SEL, GE or Novatech RTUs
- Schneider Electric or AMETEK Meters
- Other firmware type appliances
- Windows Administration
- Secondary skillsets:
- Virtual infrastructure administration (VMware preferred)
- Cisco or Ruggedcom Switches
- Network administration
- Active Directory and Group Policy Management
- Cyber security system management
- Primary skillsets
- We are also looking for:
- Ability to work within a change management / change control framework
- Ability to work within a compliance foundation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new concepts and technologies
- Intrinsic motivation to provide exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and effectively in an environment where priorities can change at a moment’s notice
- SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic knowledge of substation equipment and technologies
- This position will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
- Occasional off-hours support is required
- Occasional travel to other company locations is required
- This position is subject to NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation – Critical Infrastructure Protection) standards
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
