We are currently seeking an Intern to join our Traffic Engineering Team in our Pittsburgh Regional office (Cranberry Township, PA). Our traffic team offers the opportunity to work on exciting projects such as adaptive signal systems, innovative intersections and interchanges, managed lanes, and complete street projects that improve mobility for all transportation users. This is an exciting opportunity for a student to work with our Project Engineers and gain work experience assisting with our wide range of traffic engineering related projects.
Responsibilities:
Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans.
The Traffic Intern may assist with the following tasks:
- Assist with traffic design related tasks (traffic signal, pavement markings and signing, roadway lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices).
- Assist with traffic operational/capacity analysis tasks utilizing software such as HCS, Synchro, Sidra, or PTV Products (VISSIM/VISTRO/VISUM).
- Assist with safety studies and transportation planning tasks.
- Assist with travel demand modeling and forecasting tasks.
- Assist with field work tasks.
- Assist with preparing traffic designs, technical reports, and presentations.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) at an ABET accredited institution.
- Effective oral/written communication skills at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time accordingly.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and learn more about the field while working on these challenges.
- Experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is a plus.
