ALLETE Clean Energy , headquartered in Duluth MN (ACE) develops and manages clean and renewable energy projects. This position is based at our Condon wind farm, located in Northcentral Oregon, just outside the City of Condon. For those looking for a rural setting, this wind farm is snuggled into the corner where the John Day River flows into the Columbia River, offering an abundance of diverse water and other outdoor activities. ACE operates 83 Mitsubishi 600 wind turbines on this site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under direct supervision, performs entry-level preventative maintenance and repair activities on wind turbines, consistent with company quality guidelines and other company policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines and heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing.
- Close attention to safety required , plus working safely to protect self and others at all times through knowledge of and adherence to company safety rules.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- No experience required.
- Preference may be given to candidates with technical wind industry or technical experience working with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- This position will report regularly in person to Condon OR
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to maintain it required..
- Must be able to meet the typical Physical/Mental/Environmental demands of the position:
- This is a very physically active job done outdoors in all kinds of weather. You will need to be able to climb, carry up to 100 pounds, and at times work in cramped positions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; particulate matter, loud noise levels, risk of electrical shock, and occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals.
- Requires excellent communication skills.
- Possess the ability to read and have a basic understanding of operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and diagrams.
- Basic knowledge of the use and care of of various hand tools and equipment utilized in this position
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
The minimum starting hourly wage is $22.50. Compensation is commensurate with experience, education, skillset, licensure, business need, and market conditions.
